Barrier-Free Travel
Dave and I want to give all people access to travel opportunities. When you move out of your comfortable surroundings there are always obstacles that can get in the way. There are a lot of things you have to take into consideration. We want to help you with the details to make traveling with any kind of disability more accessible. One of the biggest issues is misinformation. So we are going to check things out first hand so we can give you a clear idea as to what to expect. We will give you links to organizations that we have tried first hand and those we have heard about that sounded worth checking out. For example, we want to check out Half Moon Bay State Beach which we have read has a wheelchair-accessible beach boardwalk that extends into the snowy plover nesting area and offers good views of the beach. This boardwalk is located at the northern end of Francis State Beach and connects to the paved Coastside Trail. Visitors using the boardwalk are treated to views of the ocean, dunes, plant life and the northernmost extent of the Santa Cruz mountains. Shorebird viewing from the boardwalk is also excellent. When we do this we will post it here. If you have found a place that you would like to share with others just send us the information and we can post it here. If you have a photo that would be great.
Here are some links to organizations that offer accessible travel, activities and resources. Dave and I have experienced the first three and can recommend them. The others we have heard good things about.
